Love it:
Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

(Collect for this coming Sunday, September 6th. One of my favorite parts of getting to plan worship is getting a sneak peak at how the Scripture passages and the Collect work hand in hand.)

  1. my favorite collect from the last month: "Grant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without you, may be enabled by you to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen."

Looks like this week's will be another to memorize to add to my arsenal of prayers. I really like becoming liturgical. These prayers mean so much--amazing how our lives are so very different from those who wrote these prayers--and yet not so very different at all. The human heart hasn't really changed that much in a few centuries, if we are honest.
